Fun Fact Friday

Cotton seeds will only germinate when moisture, oxygen and soil temperatures are adequate. Soil temperatures of approximately 14–15°C are required for germination, and once these conditions are met, seeds can germinate within 48hrs!

If the soil does not reach adequate temperatures, the seed will remain dormant until conditions become favourable.

Cotton seeds are capable of remaining dormant for several years and can still successfully sprout once environmental conditions are sufficient.
